A New Pic from The Strain Puts You on the Plane

The Strain FX seriesRiding on the heels of last week's photos comes a new, eerie image from The Strain, the upcoming FX series based on the novels by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan.  The latest image finds star Mia Maestro aboard a plane…  For those who read book one, you know this is a significant moment.

At a TCA presentation last night, showrunner Carlton Cuse (Bates Motel) revealed The Strain will aim for a five to six season run.  Del Toro, as we know, helmed the pilot and reception to the trailer they showed last night was positive (based on tweets from colleagues).  The series aims to make vampires scary again.

The tale is a high concept thriller that tells the story of “Dr. Ephraim Goodweather” (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City.  He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism.  As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

Corey Stoll, Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Robert Maillet, Jack Kesy, Ben Hyland, and Miguel Gomez also star.

Maybe this will be good, but the books were quite meh.
This is one case where I trust Del Toro to actually improve on the source material, being graphic as it is.
