The Purge 2 Gets Teased By Blumhouse

The Purge 2In case you didn't know, The Purge 2 is well into production.  Well, not at this very moment – everyone is on holiday break.  But yes, The Purge 2 began rolling cameras in December, on track for a June 20, 2014 release date from Universal.  To remind fans, Blumhouse Productions – the outfit behind last year's hit The Purge – posted a little teaser.  Nothing much.  Just a little something.  A countdown, if you will.

Original writer-director James DeMonaco is returning for the sequel and Frank Grillo is starring alongside Michael K. Williams, Zach Gilford, Carmen Ejogo and Kiele Sanchez.

I'm curious – will this break out beyond the confines of a house this time?  Will the canvas open up allowing us to see the world The Purge is painted on?  Blumhouse has a very "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" mentality (see: the Paranormal Activity series), but I'll be curious to see if DeMonaco gives us a taste of "the bigger picture."

Well, we'll find out in six months, won't we?

I liked the idea of the first movie. But the execution was just bad.

I enjoyed The Purge immensely until the ending. I felt like it was such a let down, and the daughter’s BF side story was awful. Ethan Hawke made the movie for me, and (SPOILER) since he is dead, I have no interest in this film.

I really like The Purge can’t wait to see the second one.
