The good news! Knights of Badassdom has a release strategy! The bad news? You might find it hard to see it on the big screen, which is a bummer. A teaser trailer hit the film's Facebook page endorsing you all to "Tugg" the film, meaning request your city get it on January 21st. If your city doesn't get enough requests: Sorry Charlie Tuna, you'll have to wait for the VOD/digital release on February 11th.
The other bad news? It's not the director's cut of the film.
Knights of Badassdom is the latest feature from Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2, Holliston). He shot it a bit ago and the film has faced a bit of turmoil beyond Lynch's control in the the distribution process. Long story short, he lost out and the release we're getting is not entirely his vision.
After being dumped by his sexy girlfriend Beth, Joe (Ryan Kwanten) reluctantly decides to join Eric (Steve Zahn) and his LARPing (Live Action Role Players) friends in the woods rather than stay behind and feel sorry for his newly single status. There he meets hot, ass-kicking, intimidating LARPer Gwen (Summer Glau) and finds himself plunged into a surreal adventure wilder than he ever imagined when a make-believe wizard casts an all-too-real spell from an ancient book. That spell releases an actual demon with a taste for human blood — and souls — that starts systematically decimating the players in this suddenly deadly “game.” Will our guys become the heroes they have been pretending to be before time runs out?
Peter Dinklage co-stars! Lynch is currently in post-production on the actioner Everly starring Salma Hayek.
