Lauren Buekes’ novel “The Shining Girls” is getting the Hollywood treatment, courtesy of MRC and Appian Way (the latter owned by Leonardo DiCaprio). According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two companies are looking to adapt the novel for television.
The novel, hitting shelves June 4th, tells of a Depression-era serial killer who finds a house in Chicago that allows him to time travel. He can keep killing as long he murders the eponymous shining girls, or, girls with “talent and potential.” One of his victims survives an attack and teams with a reporter to take the killer down.
Nifty premise. The book is already generating some good buzz.
