John Carpenter Would Like to Direct a Dead Space Movie

A bit of non-news for you that poses the question, “What if…?”  In this case: What if John Carpenter directed a Dead Space feature film?  The property is a hit video game series.  Carpenter loves video games.  And, I think, the game certainly carries shades of some of Carpenter’s films.  Seriously, why not “John Carpenter’s Dead Space“?

Well, Carpenter would like to do it.  You know it’s great,” he told Game Informer. “The first game was more – I guess it was like Alien – but not quite. It was a little different than that.”

“I maintain that Dead Space would just make a great movie because you have these people coming onto an abandoned, shut-down space ship and they have to start it up and something’s on board. It’s just great stuff.  I would love to make Dead Space [into a film], I’ll tell you that right now. That one is ready-made.”

Carpenter’s last feature film was The Ward.  Currently, he’s kicking around various projects, including a comic book series.
