Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt is attached to helm an adaptation of Night Film, based on the novel Marisha Pessl. Chernin Entertainment picked up the rights to the book which has yet to be published. It hits shelves this August.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the novel “tells the story of an investigative journalist named Scott McGrath who begins looking into the death of a beautiful young woman that was originally deemed a suicide. The woman turns out to be the daughter of a reclusive, cult horror film director named Stanislas Cordova, and McGrath finds himself on a journey of revenge and truth.”
Night Film has yet to find a studio home. The next step Chernin will likely take is to find a writer to adapt the material. More as it comes in…
