Cheap Thrills Poster Takes Familiar Layout, Makes It Bloody
There's a poster design that's extremely popular right now. Designers love to get a photo of an actor, place them against a single color background, give it a glow, slap a title on the image and then - boom - you've got poster art. Comedies love this style (see: 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Identity Thief, et al.)
The festival poster for Cheap Thrills has adopted this style but placed its own gleefully morbid spin on it. Instead of a grinning or goofy face, we've got star Pat Healy bloody and crying in pain. It certainly pops out at ya. I wonder if this is the first in a series... Check it out inside!
The film, directed by E.L. Katz, debuts at SXSW and goes like this: Recently fired and facing eviction, the married father of a newborn has his life turned upside down when he meets a wealthy couple who offer a path to financial security...but at a price.
