Shooting begins this spring on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - a sequel to the hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes - and The Hollywood Reporter scored the first casting news, as well as some intriguing plot details.

According to THR, Dawn will pick up 15 years after the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. "One focus is on the group of human scientists who are struggling to survive alone in San Francisco. Another aspect of the story is the struggle of intelligent ape Caesar, played by a returning Andy Serkis, to maintain dominance over his kingdom." So, it appears we'll miss out on the whole "humanity being wiped out by the virus" business...
