As far as anticipation goes, I think there is a fair share riding on Richard Raaphorst’s Frankenstein’s Army. If you’ve followed his trajectory, we’ve seen promising teaser trailers and wonderful concept art not just for Frankenstein’s Army, but projects that have fallen away as well. I think horror fans are eager to see if he can deliver.
On Saturday, January 26th, the MPI/Dark Sky Film will have its World Premiere in Raaphorst’s homeland at the Rotterdam International Film Festival. To celebrate the world premiere, Dark Sky has released two new stills from the film.
One image features a Machete Zombot in the corpse cooler and another features Viktor (Karel Roden) in his laboratory, a Machete Worker Zombot standing sentry.
Frankenstein’s Army takes place toward the end of World War II, as Russian soldiers push into eastern Germany and stumble across a secret Nazi lab, one that has unearthed and begun experimenting with the journal of one Dr. Viktor Frankenstein. The scientists have used the legendary Frankenstein’s work to assemble an army of super-soldiers stitched together from the body parts of their fallen comrades – a desperate Hitler’s last ghastly ploy to escape defeat.
