Today kicked off on a promising note when a friend of Shock tweeted a rumor about Warner Bros. Home Entertainment acquiring the DVD/Blu-ray rights to the Fright the 13th franchise.

It appears that rumor is now fact: Paramount has indeed sold the rights to Jason Voorhees' exploits as part of a recent package deal in which WBHE picked up over 600 titles from Paramount's library.

What does that mean for you?  We'll see re-releases of all Friday titles and, now, perhaps a box set that includes the entire series.  This was impossible before because Warner Bros./New Line separate owned the home video rights to Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X, Freddy vs. Jason and Friday the 13th (2009).

Now that all of the titles are under one roof, I'm certain a new box set is being considered.  How much care WBHE will put into these re-releases is to be determined.
