Casting: Jennifer Ehle Circles RoboCop, Goyo Heads to Dark Skies

Jennifer Ehle is in talks to join the cast of Jose Padilha’s RoboCop, says a story at Deadline.

She would play a character named Liz Kline, new to the remake. In the film, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

Ehle has recently appeared in films like Contagion, The Ides of March and The King’s Speech.

Variety reports Dakota Goyo, the young man who played young Thor in Thor and also starred in Real Steel, will play the son of Kerri Russell and Josh Hamilton’s characters in Dark Skies.  This is the latest film from Scott Stewart (Priest).

Dark Skies is described as a psychological thriller about a suburban couple whose lives become a nightmare when a terrifying alien presence enters their home each night to prey upon their children. Increasingly isolated from skeptical friends and neighbors, the couple is forced to take matters into their own hands to save their family.
