Takashi Shimizu, the director of The Grudge/Ju-On series, is getting back behind the camera this summer for Scared of the Dark. The thriller will reunite Shimizu with Ghost House Pictures and Stephen Susco, who adapted Ju-On into The Grudge for the U.S. and collaborated with Shimizu on Scared of the Dark‘s screenplay.
David Gallagher has signed on to star. The actor appeared in last summer’s Super 8 for J.J. Abrams, but it best known as Simon on 7th Heaven. In 2007, he did a bit of work for Ghost House himself, co-starring in Boogeyman 2.
Gallagher will be joined by Morgane Slemp (Friday Night Lights). Jake Webber (Dawn of the Dead, Medium) is in talks to star as well.
Currently, plot details are being kept under wraps. Takashige Ichise and Maya Fukuzawa, Robery G. Tapert and Kazue Udagawa will produce. Michael Kirk and Kelli Konop are co-producing.
Shimizu recently wrapped 7500 for CBS Films. That film is expected to open on August 31st and stars Ryan Kwanten, Amy Smart, Nicky Whelan, Alex Frost, Scout Taylor-Compton, Jamie Chung and Leslie Bibb.
