Sundance Horror Film Excision Gets Acquisition
Anchor Bay Entertainment reps have informed us the company picked up Excision, a horror movie that premiered at Sundance last month starring AnnaLynne McCord, Traci Lords, Malcolm McDowell, Ariel Winter and Roger Bart.
Written and directed by Richard Bates, Jr., the film concerns a disturbed and delusional high school student with aspirations of a career in medicine goes to extremes to earn the approval of her controlling mother.

Bates' feature debut is an expanded version of his short film of the same name. When we spoke to Lords about her role in the film last year, she told us this: "It's very dark and for Shock readers, it's horror, it's psychological horror. And there is definitely blood. It's about an incredibly disfuncational family and I'm the mommy in it. It gives a whole new meaning to Mommy Dearest." Ray Wise, Jeremy Sumpter, Marlee Matlin and John Waters also appear in the film. Anchor Bay will likely give the film a limited theatrical run before pushing it out on DVD and Blu-ray.
