James Wan (Insidious) is currently in pre-production on a new supernatural thriller.  It was formerly called The Conjuring.  Now, it has taken the title The Warren Files.

The film is taking its cue from the "true" case of the Perron family.  Written by Chad and Carey Hayes, the story is based on the book House of Darkness, House of Light: The True Story by Andrea Perron. In the 1970s, the Perrons lived in a Rhode Island home that was claimed to have been a portal for friendly and evil spirits.

Variety reports youngsters Mackenzie Foy (pictured, The Dark Knight Rises) and Joey King have been cast in the film.

The two will play the Perron children.  Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor were cast last month as their parents.  Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will play Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators who take on the Perron case.

The new title fits well.  Should the flick do well, it opens the door for a potential franchise using "The Warren Files" as a launching point with each new film focusing on Warren investigations.

After The Warren Files is complete, Wan may move on to Insidious 2, which is currently being written by Leigh Whannell.
