Where is Dark Castle’s John Cusack Thriller The Factory?

Shooting just wrapped, again

Dark Castle’s serial killer thriller The Factory is supposed to be a grim piece of work.

It was written by Paul Leyden, an Australian actor-producer-director, and Morgan O’Neill. O’Neill also directed placing John Cusack into the role of a Buffalo, New York cop who’s on the trail of an area serial killer. His case takes a turn for the worse when his daughter (Nights in Rodanthe‘s Mae Whitman) is kidnapped by the maniac forcing him to delve into some emotionally dark places to get her back.

Cusack was attached in 2007 and principal photography followed shortly after in 2008. But you’re not going to see it this year or even next year.

“The main thing is the ending and the beginning, which is a flashback sequence that needed to be shot in different weather,” explains producer Don Carmody for the film’s delay, “so it was always on the back burner until we could do it. After [producer] Joel [Silver] saw the movie, he wasn’t so crazy about the flashbacks. They tweaked the ending and shot it a couple of months ago. So they’re mixing. The picture’s basically finished.”

The Factory opens on January 28, 2011.
