hey! yea man, another freddy krueger film, that's what i'm talkin about... thee best horror flics of all time, and another just would get my blood boiling... with today's special effects, however you'd remaster it all, and make it scary as hell, i'm all for. long live freddy!!!

Remake Phantasm with Hugo Weaving as the tall man.

Finally!!!!!!!!! I am a huge Nightmare fan! I have a what some may call a "sick obsession" with horror movies, Nightmare in particular!
The only thing that really sucks is that Robert Englund won't be playing Freddy. Billy Bob Thorton is cool but Robert Englund is a living legend! I own all of his movies.

I hope Heather Langenkamp bcomes Marge Thompson as Nancy's mother.

I heard one big contender for the part of Freddy is Micheal Rosenbaum from Smallville (well, formally from Smallville).

I hope they do a little more character development before he is burned alive. Making it more realistic. I'd want the dreams to be more realistic too. Slight and subtle creepy stuff will make it more scary. Going overboard just makes it silly.

it's been years since there has been a nightmare movie. i think it's been over 10 years!!! (freddy vs jason doesn't count) however... no robert englund=epic failure. no way in hell i pay to see this without him in it.

I dont know why, Kane Hodder wasn't in the new Friday the 13th and it turned out Slash-tastic! Go for it New line and Platinum Dunes!!! Do the Damn thing!

This can only be done with Robert Englund in the role as Freddy!!!!!
Long live Freddy Kruger! hail!
Robert is the only one who can carry the burton and responsibillity of Freddy!

I agree, Robert Englund is what made those movies. Sure some of the movies became hacky but the pure evil was brought back in New Nightmare. You can't realy use remakes such as Friday the 13th and Halloween when it comes to recasting. The recasting for Halloween was a smart move and though I think Kane Hodder is the greatest when it comes to jason, the new guy made it his own .

I love my horror films ever since i was little the first horror i see was a nightmare on elm street and it scared the crap outta me but i loved it, i think they should leave it alone they have brought out another friday the 13th without kane hodder and now they are doing the same with freddy oh my god stop remaking old films i know u have 2 make the dollar but its a pain in da ass!!!

First no Kane Hodder in "Friday" and now no Robert Englund as "Freddy". **** New Line for taking the best actors away. It's not only a story that make a good horror flick, it's the actors as well. And let's be real, Robert is Freddy and no one else. I'll give the new flick a chance, but if it dissapoints me like Friday did.....i will never watch a Friday or Nightmare anymore

good canadates for freddy would be:
Jackie Earle Haley
Billy Bob Thorton
liam neeson
but i only think this movie will suk because the screen writer and director are CRAP.... the director only did movies on musicians.... wtf?!

I'VE BEEN A HUGE FAN SINCE I CAN REMEMBER I LOVE KRUGER I 'VE ALWAYS LOVE THE NIGHTMARE SERIES I HOPE THEY MAKE A KICK ASS REMAKE OR AN ACTUAL SEQUEL TO THE OTHER KRUGER MOVIES AS A FAN I ALWAYS WONDER WHY CAN KRUGER GO BACK AND FINISH SOME OF THE ONES THAT GOT AWAY. WHAT HAPPEND TO JESSE AND LISA (F2),NANCY'S BOYFRIEND(F3),ALICE AND HER BABY AND EVONE(F4 n 5)AN WHY NOT EVEN HE'S ***** DAUGHTER FROM FREDDY'S DEAD

Why? Seriously why? Who in their right mind would even attempt to do a remake of such a classic? Nightmare on Elm Street is one of the best horror stories/movies ever created. Why **** with it? Why mess it up?
The next thing you're going to tell me is some quack is going to do a remake of other great classic movies like the Goonies, Gone With The Wind, and/or Casablanca!
Wow, I never thought I'd feel so strongly about any 'Freddy Kruger' movie. But I loved those movies! That's what got me into the whole horror genre to begin with. This is the only movie or rather series of movies that has givin me nightmares! I've been looking for years for another movie that can do that but so far nothing has. I'm really rather pissed that someone is going to ruin this for me. The image I've held of Freddy for so long is going to be destroyed and I'm very disappointed. I don't blame Robert Englund one bit for not wanting to resume his role. And yes folks, as far as I'm concerned Mr. Englund is Freddy. End of story.

Hey all. I agree, maybe Robert will think it over and play the role again.
You never know. :D
And I think this one has a huge shot at hitting over 100M if done well.
Lets not forget that Len Wiseman(Underworld and Die Hard 4) got his start as doing only set decorations etc.
So I say give the new guy a shot.
" One twoooo-FREDDDY IS COMING FOR YOUUUUU!"

ok yea this would be frickin sweet but only if they cast Robert Englund as Freddy, ok the remakes of Halloween and Friday the 13th were fine but they dont having speaking roles!!! and wear a mask so it didnt really matter who played them aslong as they were tall enough lol but to cast anyone else than Robert Englund as Freddy will make this movie an epic failure
Posted by: Slyce-n-dyce on March 6, 2009 at 17:51:55
No! We've already seen Robert Englund as Freddy. This is a REMAKE...not a sequel. No one really wants to see his old ass playing Freddy. After the 1st one, Freddy became predictable and a comedian. Not cool!!!
Jackie Earl Haley will suffice. I think he will bring a more realistic, deeper and disturbing presence to the character. Plus I think this re-imaging will be spectacular.
Posted by: bb on March 10, 2009 at 15:15:34
Slyce-perhaps that is the whole problem...do we really need a 'reboot' of NOES? I know as a longtime fan I'd be MUCH happier with a sequel with Englund. Mark my words, platinum dunes are gonna **** this one up real good. I guarantee they are going to add some ridiculous new 'twist' to the mythology of Freddy. Just like the ludicrous underground tunnels and the captive girl in the F13 'reboot'. FAIL

I LOVE FREDDYY! THIS WILL HOPEFULLYY BE AS GOOD AS THE OTHERS
Posted by: Aaron on March 14, 2009 at 22:17:54
@ Slyce-n-dyce:
Amen. I am a lifelong Freddy fan and watch the films regularly but other than 1 and 2 (and parts of 3 and NEW NIGHTMARE) they really are quite atrocious movies. The mythology is great, the continuing character arcs are great, but they ARE completely ridiculous, which I guess people (including myself) enjoy in some sort of post-ironic way.
Bring it.
Posted by: David on March 14, 2009 at 23:35:18
I dont know why people say that Nightmare cannot be done without Englund! Look, I love his earlier Nightmare on Elm Streets but to watch them now and even back then, they were not scary. Freddy VS Jason, good movie, just not scary. Englund is the best Freddy ever but the movie go-ers also want heart-stopping horror and I think that the best way to do that is to cast a different person to act as Freddy. Halloween didnt use the same person to act out Michael Myers and Jason wasnt the same either. The new Friday the 13th was awesome with alot of jump scenes that frightened audiences. Thats what Freddy needs again, Frightened audiences!!!! Thats what I hope for at least.
Posted by: Aaron on March 15, 2009 at 00:05:49
@ David:
FREDDY VS. JASON was not scary, but was more satisfying than the last four Freddy movies and definitely more satisfying than the last three Jason movies (excluding the new one which I have not seen), if only for the **** and blood spewage at the end. Plus, no totally weak Freddy kills like the ones in 4 and 5. . . and 6. Bleh.

No robert as freddy. This movie shouldnt even be called a remake then. Freddy would just blow chunks. Wont be getting my money.
