Plot Summary: Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long). Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) arrives at the bank to beg for an extension on her home loan. Should Christine follow her instincts and give the old woman a break? Or should she deny the extension to impress her boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer), and get a leg-up on a promotion? Christine fatefully chooses the latter, shaming Mrs. Ganush and dispossessing her of her home.

In retaliation, the old woman places the powerful curse of the Lamia on Christine, transforming her life into a living hell. Haunted by an evil spirit and misunderstood by a skeptical boyfriend, she seeks the aid of seer Rham Jas (Dileep Rao) to save her soul from eternal damnation. To help the shattered Christine return her life to normal, the psychic sets her on a frantic course to reverse the spell. As evil forces close in, Christine must face the unthinkable: how far will she go to break free of the curse?

How can you say this will suck. These are the men who brought us The Evil Dead. Give it a chance.

Posted by: Garth on May 9, 2008 at 22:29:44

Didn't say it would suck, said it would be suck. Don't know what that even means...

Hollywood is playing it so safe these days....it's sickening.

It sounds like Constantine but I am excited to learn more about this, I adore the Raimi's work.

Dude... Sam Raimi is the King!!! He doesn't have a bad movie under his belt (okay I never saw Crimewave or A Simple Plan, but the rest rocked). There hasn't been a new idea in Hellywood (yes that was on purpose) for decades. The beauty is that Sam will be able to take the same old drivel and make it something entertaining and worth watching.

I never saw Crimewave, but A Simple Plan is a fantastic movie - go rent it.

Wow. Another movie where a curse is put on someone. Funny, because of the people involved, I thought it might actually be something resembling original. But a curse is always good. Just stay in that safe little Hollywood box. What's next...a house built on ancient Indian burial ground.

Just give me Evil Dead remake and call it good.

The creature that attacks her is one of the Lamiai, according to Legend Zeus had an Affair with Queen Lamia of Libya, when Hera found out she killed any child born of the Union. And Zeus did nothing because although he was King of the Olympian gods he was always weak around his wife.Lamia eventually became targeted by Hera and went into hiding. She called upon the Dark Forces to her aid and the gods of Darkness (probebly Satan or one of the gods of evil that serve him) transformed her into a Blood sucking Vampire. Her Children and followers became the Lamiai : Female Vampires whose lower bodies are like that of a serpent and who can shape shift as well.In many stories she seduces a man and in the moment of Orgasm will bit his head off.She left Libya and came to Ancient Greece to launch a War against the Olypmians. Some claim she had sex with tons of men and gave birth to her Army of angry woman Vampires, others claim she goes to find women who have been hurt by men in one way or another and she offers them Power and Immortality so that they can carry out her Vengence. If only Zeus had kept it in his pants. But anyway, I noticed in one of the pictures that the crazed Demon attacking the main character doesnt even remotely look like a Lamiai, so I am hoping that they wont **** up the mythology the way they do in so many Movies.Oh well, it looks promising either way.For more information on the Occult such as this, look for me on Myspace :

The Master

"she seduces a man and in the moment of Orgasm will bite his head off."

Ouch. But if it's a quick death i guess it's worth it.

Posted by: beavis on April 14, 2009 at 07:43:06

sam raimi said in an interview that "he is making a pg-13 rated film" what a tard... seriously man you've lost touch with tha artform and become an industry tool

remember that guy that made evil dead? where did he get off too?

This movie looks good!! I want to see this!! ;)

I'll give it a chance, but I'm kind of skeptical. Nowadays you get so many filmmakers that coast by on their fame & don't really challenge themselves anymore. It's like if you question their current films, you can't be considered a fan anymore...

This movie was AMAZING!!! Saw the screening of it last night. Let me just say that i was thinking this movie would be horrible and just like all the other cheesy horror movies that have come recently. I was soooo wrong. If you love Evil Dead then this is the movie for you. Tons of scares...gross outs and comedy. Even nods to the original evil dead. Like only Sam Raimi can provide. I swear you will not regret seeing this movie. Everyone in the theater rose to their feet and clapped and screamed at the end. It was obvious everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. So again. If you like The evil dead movies you will LOVE this movie. Guaranteed.

I also was in the advance screening of this movie (in New York) and yes this movie is amazing! It shocked me and scared me in so many ways!
