Plot Summary: In 2001, police in Poughkeepsie New York made a shocking discovery—ten bodies buried in the backyard of a residential house. Astonishingly, that was only the beginning. Inside the home, police uncovered over 800 neatly organized videotapes detailing the exploits of one man’s decade-long crime spree. The most disturbing part of the find, was that the killer had filmed all of the footage himself—from his first moments stalking his victims to their last seconds alive.
"The Poughkeepsie Tapes" examines the homicides—incorporating interviews from criminal experts, testimony from the only victim ever rescued alive, and chilling footage shot from the killer's own camera. All of which document the twisted path of a serial killer as never before.
Beginning in 1988, a wave of missing person reports and unsolved murders from New York to Pennsylvania, began to alarm law enforcement officials. Many of the strange disappearances and dead victims held similarities. Soon the authorities realized they were dealing with a serial killer. The hunt to identify and capture the killer was layered with troubling facts and haunting events, eventually ending at the house where the tapes were found. Unfortunately, the discovery left more questions than answers. Did the killer leave the tapes intentionally? Do the tapes hold hidden clues? Is he still active?
This film dares to show what has never been presented to the public before—the evidence, the puzzle, and the footage of "The Poughkeepsie Tapes."

My poor husband has been waiting for this film for what feels like forever. He wants to see it BAD! If anyone finds out when the hell this film really comes out I'd appreciate it. Between the Method man album and this film he's going to be traumatized.

They cannot show real footage. It is illegal I think for the gov't to release such type of footage. But I'm sure just like almost all true stories, they remake the actual scenery. But I really want to see this!

The person this film is loosely based on is Kendall Francois. When caught, there were 10 bodies in the house he shared with his parents and little sister, mostly missing prostitutes, many walled up in his basement, and one had been on the living room sofa covered with newspapers for months!
My wife was a photographer with the community college newspaper at the time, and very surprisingly, was allowed tremendous access to photograph the forensic team investigation at the death house.Extremely creepy stuff. The whole neighborhood stunk.
The Francois house was sold for an unbelievably low price, then immediately resold for a tremendous profit to an unsuspecting buyer. And it gets creepier.
At first the police believed Francois had a partner, and in fact, since his incarceration, the murder and disappearance of local hookers has started up again. The case has quietly been reopened.

Is this whole story true? I've asked some of my friends that live there and they said it was just made up.

give me the link on youtube.

NoSecretsw/e - you named the wrong killer so perhaps you named the wrong release date
Posted by: mLg_092 on March 19, 2009 at 12:46:56
if you watch the movie,
you see that James Foley is NOT the killer.
he was killed by lethal injection,
and then was later proved innocent.
they never found the actual killer.
but like i said,
this is what it says in the movie.
but is this all fact or fiction?
ive heard so many different answers.

If you have a torrent client such as Azureus or Utorrent, This movie is available at www dot btjunkie dot org... Why wait for December?
Posted by: Valen on March 22, 2009 at 23:41:10
I saw the movie and the Foley guy was not the murderer....he was put to death partly because the killer set him up....once you see the movie you will realize that the sick bastard is still out there killing women and children.
