Plot Summary: On the surface, Saya is a stunning 16-year-old, but that youthful exterior hides the tormented soul of a 400-year-old "halfling." Born to a human father and a vampire mother, she has for centuries been a loner obsessed with using her samurai skills to rid the world of vampires, all the while knowing that she herself can survive only on blood like those she hunts. When she is sent onto an American military base in Tokyo by the clandestine organization she works for, Saya immediately senses that this may be her opportunity to finally destroy Onigen, the evil patriarch of all vampires. Using her superhman strength and her sword, she begins to rid the base of its evil infestation in a series of spectacular and elaborate showdowns. However, it is not until she forms her first human friendship in centuries with the young daughter of the base's general that Saya learns of her greatest power over Onigen may well be her ability for human connection...

Wrong there man Blood: The Last Vampire was a movie that came out before the series on Adult Swim. pretty much this is a live action version of an Anime movie that has already been made. but it's still going to kick ass!

Posted by: lloyd on March 25, 2008 at 08:16:03

I thought the anime movie already covered this? The cartoon series is crap and then they have this come out? Ruin a good thing once again..
Why not try Vampire Hunter D as a live action?

Posted by: autumn on May 22, 2008 at 17:03:35

I disagree. What's with all of this friendship crap they keep trying to put on Saya? and you gotta admit the half-breed thing is wayyy overdone. They need to just stick to the original movie, all bad-ass action, and no soap-opra drama ****.

"Born to a human father and a vampire mother, she has for centuries been a loner obsessed with using her samurai skills to rid the world of vampires, all the while knowing that she herself can survive only on blood like those she hunts" Is it me or does this just sound lika a Japanese, chick version of Blade??

Wow I had no idea they were turning this anime into a live action movie...I wonder if it'll do well. I mean I loved the anime and the anime movie...but there really isn't that great of a track record for them when they convert over to the big screen. I want to see the trailer its killing me!

Okay people lets get this straight: Blood:The Last Vampire came out before Blood +, in fact it inspired blood +. In the movie (which is unrelated 2 the series, its only similarities r names n chiropteran)saya is stern and lonely, but in the anime she's loved and cared for and falls asleeplike what? every 50 years! N both the movie and series are badass!! But can they really create a good action movie with such badly cast actors. The girl doesn't even look like the stern hardass saya!!! Gr.

OK Chris Nolan! Steal some more cool Marvel characters and change them your way again... Blade`s been done the half vampire half Human with super strength and speed and blood thirst and ninja sword... This`ll suck! Just like that other one with the chick from fifth Element! Aloso sucked!

@Blade:

What are you talking about? Chris Nolan is not the director of this movie nor has this idea been stolen from Marvel. If you paid attention to the article or are even familiar with what it is talking about it is a live action movie based on a Japanese anime.

However I will agree that most if not all movies based off of anime or games are usually doom to fail. (anything directed by Uwe Boll comes to mind) Given the right circumstances this movie could be done well (if it's taken seriously and pulls from the original source material. But by the looks of the cast I'd say the movie is already missing the mark and it hasn't even begun filming.

As much as I love Vampire movies and Blood:The Last Vampire/Blood +, I just don't don't know if this can be made into a good movie. Same thing goes for Vampire Hunter D. I'd love to see movies of both if they'd do them justice & stick close to the source material. You know as well as I do that Hollywood won't. They never do. They always take liberties in making the movie their vision of it. It also has me wondering how they plan on doing Akira on the big screen(believe it or not, it is coming!).

I hope it doesn't end up some fiasco like Bloodrayne, Dead or Alive or some movie like that. Blood deserves more than that.

It annoys me whenever someone on here sees a plot or storyline similar to something we've already seen (i.e., half human/half vampires), they always want to compare it to something else (like Blade). First of all, everything has been used and overused time and time again. There are no new ideas. You can take an idea and give it a twist, but I guarantee you if you were to sit back and try to come up with a concept, it's been done already. I say wait until you see the film before you pass judgement.

Posted by: ComicGeek on November 12, 2008 at 21:23:12

This sounds like a female version of Blade.
can we have new storyline's here please???

Posted by: Joey on November 21, 2008 at 15:43:47

Hey, has anyone ever heard of "Blade"???

Posted by: ZOMBIE4PETA on November 21, 2008 at 21:49:38

Blade was what I was thinking. Can't get into the whole vampire genre. Their not real, just like werewolves. I guess thats why I'm more into Zombie flicks, now that s**t could happen!

what?

lloyd

They are doing a Vampire Hunter D movie.

Posted by: ico on November 22, 2008 at 02:50:19

Why are people complaining about the whole half human/half vampire thing? It's been in mythology for hundreds of years they are called dhampirs, look them up on wikipedia or something.

This movie is going to suck. It had potential but then I saw her surrounded by sword wielding baddies. That's not in the anime. Why can't they just follow the story of the original animated movie (not the horrible anime series that followed it...you know the one I mean)? This movie will blow chunks like all other remakes of Japanese properties.

I'm kind of sick of people trashing Blood+ on here, it was a wonderful series. I guess they're the same sort of people who are only happy with gore and violence, and not actual story. I guess if you saw the ridiculous version on Adult Swim you would be prejudiced against it, but that goes for any anime. I don't know how anyone could call Blood: The Last Vampire good. It had poor voice acting (they should have just stuck to Japanese), poor editing, and a poor story. But personally I'm also glad it's The Last Vampire and not Blood+, I don't have to see a perfectly good series ripped to pieces, I just get to see a bad movie made probably even worse.

The original Bloods aren't like anything like Blade, that's just what the idiots did when they "adapted" it into the live action movie. They should have just stuck with the BP explanation of things instead of digging up a bunch of cliches.

i totally agree with megan. yes the B+ was softer, but the focus was less on vampire-hunting and more on character development and storyline, along the veins of why ppl also love BSG, Firefly, etc. Sci-fi was just the *setting*... how good they are was all in the characters the actors portrayed.

B:TLV became a cult classic because of its style, darkness, and unique storyline, and B+ was made in a completely different style..., one that is less harsh and more open to a general audience. 2 different stories told in 2 different ways but with commonality.

i'm always wary of live adaptations of popular animated series/characters and it's no different with this one now that i've seen the previews that you saw plus several more clips of the movie online. they it seems like they changed some of the characters and their backgrounds from the movie, making it even more distant from B+, which i enjoyed the most, especially the music score from mark mancina and hans zimmer.

as megan stated, it's sad when they have to "adapt" to some common denominator just to help sell it to a wider audience.

stupid mother****een americans.. why do they always need an american actors to act in a japanese made anime.. ****een producer.. this movie is much better if it was acted by asians. what the ****!! why did they put that ****in allison miller in this movie... she is just an extra in this movie.. they just wasted the movie for gianna jun..this movie doesnt need allison miller.. if i were saya i would have killed that b*tch.
