An Introduction from Writer Jace Anderson & First Look at Quigley's Cameo

Posted by: Ryan Rotten

Howdy, folks!  Jace Anderson here, welcoming you to the inaugural post of the Night of the Demons blog.

Why a blog?  Well, why not?  Adam and I have always talked about how we should keep regular notes on one of our projects from beginning to end.  It’d be a great record of the ups and downs, as well as a way to offer people a glimpse into the puzzling, exciting, frustrating and sometimes just plain tedious world of independent horror filmmaking.  We hope that this blog can be more than a rah-rah promo site (although there will be some of that – after all, we do want you to see the movie when all is said and done.)  Rather, we want it to be a place where we can share some of the challenges, frustrations and absurdities of moviemaking.  We’re already in the second week of filming, but in future posts I’ll write about preproduction and the writing process.  We’ll also have posts from guest bloggers (that means you, Miss Shepis!)

It’s been a long journey to New Orleans and Angela’s party, with obstacles provided by the writers’ strike, production pushes and a little thing called Hurricane Gustav.  (Suffice to say that if Adam and cinematographer Ron Levy can survive a hasty evacuation to Baton Rouge and three days without power or water, they can survive our grueling 22 day shoot.)

Speaking of grueling, we’re on night shoots for our first 2 weeks of filming, and it’s left me feeling like Alice on the other side of the rabbit hole.  Get to set at six pm, shoot until six am, stumble back to the hotel to sleep until noon, repeat.  Luckily we’re based in the French Quarter of New Orleans, so those wanting an after-work cocktail at seven in the morning are in luck.  Breakfast food at four in the afternoon isn’t so easy.  What I love is how we all automatically talk about the workday as if it were still 9 to 5: "Yeah, the morning was tough but things really got going after lunch."  "Lunch" in that case was midnight, meaning that morning was night and the afternoon was…oh, never mind.

Whatever time it really was on that first day – er, night – of shooting, we were thrilled to have Linnea Quigley on the set.  I’ll end this kickoff post by letting her wish you an early happy Halloween:

Thanks for reading, and thanks to ShockTillYouDrop.com for hosting us!

I always dreamed of a remake for this movie. I've been such a fan of the original for as long as I can remember. I even started writing a 'remake' for it at one point. However, I'm f-cking glad it's finally being redone! I cannot wait 'til it is released!

This is really looking good so far. And I'm so excited that they got Linnea for a cameo.

The original was freaking sweet hope the remake does some justice.

Hey Jace,
Congratulations on the remake! I hope you guys have as much fun making this film as I did on the original. I can't believe it's been over 20 years since we shot the first one. Best of luck with the remake. It's great to see Linnea in her old wardrobe she looks great!

PS. Where's my Cameo?

I'm hoping to be an extra on the 19th. I love the direction you guys are taking this movie. The original is and has been one of my favorite horror movies, and I watch it every year around Halloween. I'm actually going to fly out from Iowa to New Orleans just to be a part of this. It truly is an experience of a lifetime, and I cannot wait!

Hey guys-
The movie looks as though it will be a worthy remake of a classic and I'm happy to see that Linnea Q is making a return in that pink tutu!!!! Here's to sour balls (raises a beer)...LOL. Anywho, I was wondering about the soundtrack for this, I'm hoping for an all out metal soundtrack. Can I give you some ideas... Halloween II by the Misfits, Stigmata Martyr by Bauhaus,Welcome to my Nightmare by Alice Cooper,Shout it out Loud by KISS,( not just because Furlong was in Detroit Rock City either!!!), Type O Negative,Marilyn Manson,Twisted Sister,Cradle of Filth,Gwar,KING DIAMOND... just anything that fits the spirit of Halloween horror. Please give it a good soundtrack!!! You guys are doing great so far but that will make it a masterpiece!!!

OMG i cant for this to come out! i really want to see it! and i thinkn it would be a great marketing plan to release all three movies in collectors edition box set or something around the time the movie gose to theaters.

I have been a fan of Night of the Demons since the age of 7 (Yeah, a little extreme, but my parents didn't mind. My twin brother and I have been in love with NOTD for seventeen years now and we just got the news about the remake.

We are really excited about this movie and even though we're a little confused about Shannon Elizabeth taking the role of Angela, we're hoping for her to be able to embody that character as good as Amelia did. We're just really happy that others seem to share the same passion for this movie as we do.

If I could add my two cents or just an idea, it would be for you guys to try to bring back that amazing scene where Angela is dancing after being possessed. That scene marked the movie and it was frightning, negative beauty at its best! A lot of fans will agree with me when I say that that one scene is what made this film what it is, along with the lipstick scene.

The moment I saw Linnea in that pink tutu I smiled, it definitely brought back memories. I'm really happy that you're going back to this movie's roots, it's really giving me good hopes for this and I can't wait for the outcome.

I wish you all the best of luck and I hope no harm goes your way. Have fun shooting!
